Jameson Irish Maid is traditionally served into a rocks glass with ice but for me personally I prefer to keep ice out of it. . The warmer a whiskey is, the more you’ll pick up on that “heat,” dominant alcohol flavors and scent. Ice will take the temperature of the whiskey down a bit and make it a bit more palatable. Sometimes a bit of water helps open up the whiskey and release new tastes and aromas. With that being said, I find that certain whiskey cocktails shaken is enough and no need for ice sitting in your glass.
